American Academy of Pediatrics

AAP ISSUES ADVICE ON MANAGING FEVERS IN CHILDREN
A fever in a child can be worrying to parents, and is one of the most common reasons parents seek a pediatrician’s care. To help pediatricians educate parents and families about fever and “fever phobia,” the American Academy of Pediatrics has issued a clinical report, “Fever and Antipyretic Use in Children,” published in the March 2011 print issue of Pediatrics (published online Feb. 28). Fever is a physiological mechanism that has beneficial effects in fighting infection. Although many parents administer antipyretics (medications to reduce a fever) such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen to a child to reduce a fever, the report emphasizes that the primary goal should be to help the child feel more comfortable, rather than to maintain a “normal” temperature. Parents should focus on the general well-being of the child, his/her activity, observing the child for signs of serious illness and maintaining appropriate fluid intake. Parents should not wake up a sleeping child to administer a fever-reducer. Antipyretics must be stored safely to avoid accidental ingestions. Parents should be aware that the correct dosage is based on the child’s weight, and that an accurate measuring device should always be used. While there is some evidence that combination therapy (alternating doses of ibuprofen and acetaminophen) may be more effective at lowering body temperature, questions remain about whether it is safe and whether it helps children feel more comfortable. Combination therapy also increases the risk of inaccurate dosing.

Find confidence in Yourself. You know you can do this and before going on to anything else. Your full potential booster is your confidence. Look in the mirror, you're unique, no one else looks like You! Go through your belongings and remove the clutter. Ask yourself how each object makes you feel. If it reminds you of something unfortunate or brings your energy down in any way, get rid of it, and make space for something new. Trust that what you need will come to you. Find something that you can do the best. Be useful and productive with your talents! Be open to new things and go for it! Be comfortable with yourself. This is you, after all.

2011 Astrology from Kamalkapoor.com (Indian Astrology Site)

Sagittarius 2011 Horoscope, 2011 Sagittarius Astrology

After a couple of year’s time you are going to regain rhythm in your life. After the first half of 2011 your life will start having good flow money. The long standing issues in the professional life will be ending now. Your happiness in the family and personal life will increase. Those who are awaiting a child will be blessed this year.

Career, Incomes and Gains
The transit of Jupiter through the 4th house and Saturn through the tenth house where causing many a tensions for you in professional life till date.

In May 2011 Jupiter will move from the 4th house to the 5th house and then onwards the said good period will start. You must have gone through many unhappy situations in the professional life since a couple of years. You might have anticipated for a change in career. All these will happen this year after May. You will get in to a good Job by Sept-Oct 2011. The new job will provide you monetary benefits and much anticipated professional satisfaction. Those who are planning to go abroad may succeed in doing so by the end of the year. You will need to plan accordingly and put your best efforts since transit Saturn will not make things easy for you. Many of you may be anticipating a change of place too and even that could happen in this period. The positive transit of Jupiter will help you to be in control of the situation.

Hence, Students need to put more efforts into their studies otherwise their result will let them down. You may acquire success as per your satisfaction only after July of 2011. The second half of the year will prove to be more result oriented.

Try to avoid any travels as it might not fruitful till June 2011. Probably, The second half will be the best time for traveling for any important purpose. But a few short journeys are awaited for you throughout the year.

Due to influence of Rahu-Ketu axis over the Lagna till May 2011 the health would be a major cause of concern. You might have to face little obstructions in your routine life. Your breathing system and bones are going to get affected. The second half will be better in many ways.

The power of "no" & Your 2-year-old now...

Your two year old now:  Of all the words your child is picking up this year, it may seem like he has one grand favorite: "NO." What's the attraction? Preschoolers say "no" a lot because they're discovering their own free will. "No" is a handy way to voice their opinion. (Sometimes they even say "no" when they really mean "yes.") Sometimes a not-very-verbal child will resort to "no" just because he's mad or flustered and struggling to get his point across. Your preschooler may also learn that if he says it loudly and forcefully enough, Mom and Dad will really pay attention ... they might even go along with it! Giving your child choices is one way to reduce the number of no's you hear from him. Also, encourage him to answer in a quiet voice, and coach him in some alternatives: "What's the opposite of 'no'? 'Yes!'" "You can say 'no,' or you can say 'yes,' or guess what's in the middle? You can say 'maybe!'"

Your life now:  The switch from crib to bed often ushers in an era of middle-of-the-night visits to your bed. If you're not up for sharing your covers, lead or carry your preschooler back to his bed and bid him a kind but firm goodnight. Don't turn on the lights, don't talk much, don't get emotional or otherwise make it a fun, daytime-like experience. You might have to repeat this routine multiple times before the nightwalker learns to stay in his own bed at night. The key is to be persistent and consistent.

Your Pregnancy Week 36

How your baby's growing:  Your baby continues to grow and develop inside of you, measuring over 19 inches long, and weighing about 6 ½ lbs! During week 36, your baby's most important job is to keep putting on weight. Actually, that's his primary job from now until delivery.  You probably have another 4 weeks to go until delivery, especially if this is your first pregnancy, but "Full Term" refers to the period between 37-41 weeks, so your baby could be coming any time now! Your due date is probably a good guideline to determine when your little one is coming. Even though few women deliver on their actual due date, many women deliver in the days just before or after.

How your life's changing:  Now that your baby is taking up so much room, you may have trouble eating a normal-size meal. Smaller, more frequent meals are often easier to handle at this point. On the other hand, you may have less heartburn and have an easier time breathing when your baby starts to "drop" down into your pelvis. This process — called lightening — often happens a few weeks before labor if this is your first baby. (If you've given birth before, it probably won't happen before labor starts.) If your baby drops, you may also feel increased pressure in your lower abdomen, which may make walking increasingly uncomfortable, and you'll probably find that you have to pee even more frequently. If your baby is very low, you may feel lots of vaginal pressure and discomfort as well. Some women say it feels as though they're carrying a bowling ball between their legs! You might also notice that your Braxton Hicks contractions are more frequent now. Be sure to review the signs of labor with your practitioner and find out when she wants to hear from you. As a general rule, if you're full-term, your pregnancy is uncomplicated, and your water hasn't broken, she'll probably have you wait to come in until you've been having contractions that last for about a minute each, coming every five minutes for an hour. Of course, you'll want to call right away if you notice a decrease in your baby's activity or think you're leaking amniotic fluid, or if you have any vaginal bleeding, fever, a severe or persistent headache, constant abdominal pain, or vision changes.

Urgent Compassionate Release for Patricia Wright

Patricia Wright,  #W79941, is a 59 year old grandmother currently housed at the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla, CA. She is currently suffering from Stage 4 terminal breast cancer. Doctors do not know how much time she has left, be it several months or several weeks.

In 1998 Patricia was convicted of murdering her ex-husband Jerome. She was arrested 17 years after the travesty, based on fictive testimony from her estranged brother who was facing child molestation charges in a separate case. The child molestation charges later disappeared. Other evidence against her included a detective's testimony about a confession on a  "lost audio tape" by a suspect who admitted being hired by Patricia to carry out the murder.

The details of her story can are at:   http://www.wcjn.org/Wright_Patricia.html

Patricia's four children and grandchild have only one wish: to care for their mother at home during the next few painful months. We strongly urge you to grant Patricia a compassionate release.
